Located in the southwest part of the city, Avalon serves about 540 students. We are in a dual-campus partnership with Lendrum Elementary school; some staff work between the two schools; some student leadership activities operate between the two. Approximately one-quarter of our students are from the neighbourhood schools of Lendrum, Malmo and Lansdowne. The remaining three-quarters travel from outside these communities. As a designated school site offering the French Immersion Program, Avalon receives students who come from all over southwest Edmonton, but particularly from Richard Secord and Greenfield schools. Avalon is also the home of two special needs classes for Literacy; these students come primarily from the south-west as well. Avalon is very proud of the partnership we have with our Avalon parents; we have extensive and valuable support with the coaching of interschool sports teams and with the participation of our parents on School Council and on AIMS (the Avalon Instrumental Music Society).
